Supports from Tom Renwick at Maths on Track
ON-LINE supports for teachers + pupils, and, parents + children;
Whether a teacher or parent, you can download practice sheets or videos of key numeracy lessons as the need arises, all related to Curriculum for Excellence. You can also access the old fashioned but highly effective Wee Red Box numeracy flash card techniques which are designed to improve fluency in mental agility. Then, mentally fluent = good at numeracy = better at maths!
These on-line supports are low cost, with most home users buying in for as little as £10 (highly beneficial, and designed to be used as the need arises). The downloadable practice sheets and videos have proved so popular that the 'on track' DVD's have been produced, one for each of the primary stages, as well as for Curriculum for Excellence levels 3 and 4. The DVD's save a lot of time downloading, and, ensure you have everything. You can see a list of all their contents in the free downloads.
FACE-TO-FACE supports for teachers and their pupils;
Tom Renwick is a leading numeracy specialist, and you can see his forthcoming supports at www.mathsontrack.com/news. He regularly visits schools to directly share interactive and highly effective (and some would say old fashioned) Wee Red Box / Numeracy Map mental agility techniques with teachers and their classes. This teacher support (which also benefits the pupils) is followed by a twilight session for staff on numeracy. At this talk Tom shares the key ingredients for the effective learning of numeracy across the whole school (important) and within the classroom (where it matters).
For any such visit the school also receives a teacher sized version of the numeracy / alphabet map worth £50. Subject to travel costs / time from/back to Edinburgh, this unique support costs £675. If there's a parent talk in the evening too the total cost is £775.
Visit the news section to see all the the current bookings for Tom's school, parent and local authority supports.
FACE-TO-FACE supports for parents and their children;
Tom gives evening talks for parents on behalf of the school, with their children also able to attend. He shares practical tips that enables parents to help their child(ren) with numeracy, including uses of the 'numeracy map'. Subject to travel from / back to Edinburgh, the cost is £300.
